Power crisis hits flour mill owners hard in Noakhali

The flour mill owners of Chowmohani, the main business centre in Noakhali have been facing severe power crisis. For this, they are experiencing huge losses. Subsiquently they are failing to meet the demand for ata and maida of the district, Feni and Luxmipur.
Load shedding is hampering the production of the mills greatly.
Chowmohani had once some 30 flour mills. Now only 16 of them exist.
M Masud Raza, the owner of Bhai Bhai Flour Mills, told the Independent that the production capacity of his mills is 30 tons a month. Now it has reduced to a negligible quantity for irregular power supply.
Apollo Flour, Padma Food, Golden Food, Modern Food, Dedar Food, Noakhali Food and General Food are very big and famous. But these too are on the verge of collapse.
Retail flour trader Ali Miah of Maheshganj bazaar said the price of packet flour has increased for low production of the flour mills.
